The Best Granola

This granola is a great base but you can change it up to fit your tastes - add some dried cranberries with the raisins and dried cherries, or change up the nuts and add cashews or walnuts!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cups sliced almonds
  • 1 cup pecans coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 250°F.
  • In a large bowl combine the oats, nuts, coconut, and brown sugar.
  • In a separate small bowl, combine the maple syrup, vegetable oil, and salt.
  • Pour the liquid mixture onto the oat mixture. Toss to combine.
  • Pour the mixture out onto a large rimmed baking sheet or two smaller rimmed baking sheets in one even layer.
  • Cook the mixture for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even browning. The granola is ready when it is evenly browned, fragrant, and the oats are crunchy.
  • Remove the granola from the oven and add to a large bowl. Toss with the raisins and dried cherries.
  • Let the granola cool and then store in an airtight container until you're ready to eat it.
