Granola is one of my favorite breakfasts because you can eat it so many different ways. If you are like Jared, you eat it plain with a spoon. If you are literally anyone else, you probably sprinkle it over yogurt or oatmeal, or even eat it like cereal with some milk. This is not granola clusters, but rather a mix of delicately toasted, cinnamon-scented oats, raisins, almonds, and pecans.
The Best Granola
This granola is a great base but you can change it up to fit your tastes - add some dried cranberries with the raisins and dried cherries, or change up the nuts and add cashews or walnuts!
Ingredients
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 1/4 cups sliced almonds
- 1 cup pecans coarsely chopped
- 1/2 cup coconut flakes
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F.
- In a large bowl combine the oats, nuts, coconut, and brown sugar.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the maple syrup, vegetable oil, and salt.
- Pour the liquid mixture onto the oat mixture. Toss to combine.
- Pour the mixture out onto a large rimmed baking sheet or two smaller rimmed baking sheets in one even layer.
- Cook the mixture for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even browning. The granola is ready when it is evenly browned, fragrant, and the oats are crunchy.
- Remove the granola from the oven and add to a large bowl. Toss with the raisins and dried cherries.
- Let the granola cool and then store in an airtight container until you're ready to eat it.
