Hi – I’m Sami! Welcome to my site, Sami Homemaker, and thank you for visiting!
After many years of cooking and baking (and loving every second of it) I have decided to take the plunge and make a food blog! Which, as it turns out, isn’t as easy as I hoped it would be. I already cook or bake almost every night and recently started documenting it all on Instagram… so I figured, how big of a step is it really now to make a blog too? Turns out… it’s HUGE. I already had the love of food and desire to create and share recipes, but you know what I didn’t have? The knowledge on how to make a website. So it’s been quite the learning curve, but I am excited to finally get started. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
So now that you’re here, here’s a little bit about me. I have always appreciated good food. I grew up in a food-loving family (in fact, my mom even eventually made her way from being a lawyer into a food-related career, so the food love runs deep!). My background is full of big food cultures, being Jewish and Italian. But I had babysitters from all over, so I was exposed to different food cultures at a very young age. I actually still have dreams about the potato roti that my first babysitter, Nori, used to make for me. Note to self: I need to get a recipe going on that one. Anyway, bottom line is that I have loved food since I was kid… though admittedly there was a phase of chicken fingers and buttered pasta only. But I’m over that now! Mostly. Come on – who doesn’t like a good chicken finger basket every once in awhile?
Now that I’m older, and realize that good food costs money, I had to get a real person job. So during the day, I work in consulting. But when I’m not working, I still love exploring food. Only now I also like to try to recreate it all at home too. I love all types of food, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have favorites. From my posts here, I think you’ll come to realize that I love Italian food, all cuisines of Asian food, peanut butter, chocolate, pretty much all desserts and any carb you could throw at me. So you’ll see lots of recipes for those things! But I’ll also post things from across the spectrum, from meat focused dinners to vegetable-focused dishes (shocking, yes, but I am capable of a eating a meal without bacon in it).
I am really excited to share my love of food with you and get started on this blogging adventure! So thank you again for joining me on this exciting new journey. I hope you love my food as much as I do. Happy eating!
